The Tucson Police Department (TPD) invites the public to attend its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony tomorrow. Elementary school students from around the city, as well as children from the Erik Hite Foundation Childcare Center, will participate in decorating the Christmas tree in the TPD headquarters lobby, 270 S. Stone Ave. The event will begin at 10 a.m., featuring holiday music performed by the Davis Bilingual Elementary School Mariachi Group. Santa then will arrive via special police escort.
After Santa’s arrival, kids will decorate the tree, get their picture taken with Santa, and enjoy refreshments and a goody bag.
The yearly tradition helps create a bond between children and police officers.
The event is made possible by a collaboration between the Tucson Police Officers Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Office of the Chief of Police.
