The Tucson Police Department (TPD) Recruiting Unit is accepting registrations for a voluntary physical fitness orientation this Sunday. It will provide future applicants the opportunity to gauge their fitness level before testing for the position of Police Officer Recruit. Participants also will receive mentoring from the Recruiting Unit and physical training instructors.
The fitness orientation is not part of the actual hiring process. The Coopers fitness standards test, which will be explained at the event, is a mandatory pass/fail assessment in the recruiting process. Participants in the orientation may not be on any current hiring list for Police Officer Recruit with TPD.
The orientation will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Training Center, 10001 S. Wilmot Road. Check-in is from 6:45-7:15 a.m. Registration is required.
