A KGUN 9 news segment features the Tucson Police Park Safety team helping homeless individuals get housing assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is funded by the Federal CARES Act to help stop the spread of the virus in a vulnerable population.
The team looks for individuals who may have symptoms of COVID-19 or may be susceptible or high risk because of underlying medical conditions. Partners in this effort include the Sullivan-Jackson Employment Center Shelter Hub, Sun Van, I Hope Medical Transportation Group, and the City’s Housing and Community Development department. The Park Safety team does outreach at all 128 parks in Tucson.
