Tucson Water Director Among Those Interviewed About Drought Contingency Plan

Tucson Water Director Tim Thomure was interviewed by Arizona Public Media recently about Arizona’s Jan. 31 deadline to approve a drought contingency plan (DCP) for the water that is drawn from the Colorado River by Native Americans, cities, and farmers. Thomure was on the steering committee that helped developed the DCP, which gives the seven Colorado River basin states time to craft a longer-term plan.

Tucson Water and other state entities are exchanging water in a creative way to help them in the near term and provide Tucson greater water security in the long term. In addition, Tucson Water does not use all of the Colorado River water it gets each year, so it stores the extra for future use.
