Park Tucson Overview

Park Tucson offers conveniently-located on-street parking, parking garages, and parking lots in Downtown Tucson and along the Sun Link modern streetcar route. We also manage resident and non-resident (commuter and student) on-street permit parking programs in neighborhoods around the University of Arizona and the business districts along the Sun Link line. We offer parking near government and other offices in Downtown, as well as cultural, retail, dining and entertainment venues from the Mercado District on Tucson's West Side to the University of Arizona area. Park Tucson Mission

Park Tucson’s mission is to professionally manage the City of Tucson’s parking assets to provide safe, accessible, and convenient parking as an integral part of the continuum of mobility in the Tucson community.   Professional operation of parking facilities, services, and enforcement facilitates economic development, enhances neighborhood quality of life, and supports public safety, in conjunction with other modes of transportation.

Park Tucson is a financially self-sustaining division of the City of Tucson Department of Transportation & Mobility.  It is focused on providing exemplary customer service and presenting a professional, inviting image for the City of Tucson’s parking assets and services. 

Park Tucson Commission

The Park Tucson Commission, an appointed citizens advisory body representing business, neighborhoods, government, and other interests in the Sun Link Streetcar Corridor, works with Park Tucson to develop and implement parking policies and strategies for the area. The Commission makes recommendations to the Mayor and Council on parking planning and policy issues of strategic significance to the City of Tucson.  

The Commission is composed of 15 members, each appointed by a stakeholder entity. Individual members serve at the pleasure of their appointing organization. The following 7 organizations have standing seats on the Commission:

  • Campus-Community Relations Commission (CCRC)
  • Tucson Metro Chamber
  • Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP)
  • Fourth Avenue Merchants Association (FAMA)
  • Marshall Foundation/Main Gate Square
  • Visit Tucson
  • University of Arizona

           The remaining 8 positions are appointed by the City of Tucson:

  • Ward 1 City Council Member
  • Ward 2 City Council Member
  • Ward 3 City Council Member
  • Ward 4 City Council Member
  • Ward 5 City Council Member
  • Ward 6 City Council Member
  • City Manager (2 positions)

The Commission meets monthly, and its meetings are publicly noticed. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and there is a standing item on the Commission agendas for a "Call to the Audience" period.  The Commission also has standing sub-committees addressing Finance and Capital Planning, Marketing, Business District Parking, and Neighborhood Parking.  

Note:   Currently, due to the pandemic, the Commission is meeting virtually.   The public is invited to log in and join these meetings as well.

Upcoming Park Tucson Commission meetings:

The Park Tucson Commission will meet on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 8:00am, virtually through Microsoft Teams.  Click here for the meeting notice and agenda.

Subcommittee Meetings:

The Park Tucson Commission Subcommittees have established standing meeting days and times:

  • The Business District Parking Subcommittee generally meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30am.  However, the next meeting will be held on October 12, 2021 at 8:30am.  
  • The Neighborhood and Residential Parking Subcommittee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30am.  The subcommittee meets next on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.   
  • The Finance and Capital Needs Subcommittee meets on the Thursday prior to the Park Tucson Commission meeting (which is the fourth Tuesday of the month at 8:00am) at 3:00pm.   The next meeting will be held on October 21, 2021.
  • The Marketing Subcommittee meets next on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 4:00pm.
