Planning and Development Services staff returned to Planning Commission to present further refinements to the proposed code amendment that would allow for relief for underground utility requirements if certain criteria are met.
During a public meeting on June 15, Planning Commission voted 7-1 to recommend approval proposed code amendment to Mayor and Council. The discussion was centered around the clarity of the criteria, whether this is the appropriate tool for relief from code requirements, and the importance of gateway and scenic routes.
Previous meetings on this proposed amendment include a Planning Commission study session (March 16), and two public hearings (April 6 and May 11). During the public hearings, 32 members of the audience spoke and 97 written statements were submitted to the commission.
The item is scheduled for a Mayor and Council Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 12. The agenda and materials will be posted approximately one week in advance.
