Applicants are no longer required to apply for a Director's Decision Letter for equipment swap-outs that meet the following threshold for a no substantial change:

On December 5, 2017 the City of Tucson Mayor and Council voted (7-0) to adopt the proposed extensive revisions to the City Sign Code. Those revisions adopted helped to achieve the following goals:
Due to concerns that have arisen related to the proximity of November 21st to the Thanksgiving holiday, the date scheduled for the Mayor and Council Public Hearing to review the Sign Code Revision Project has been moved to December 5, 2017, at or after 5:30PM in the Mayor and Council Chambers of City Hall, 255 West Alameda, Tucson, AZ. This was done to ensure everyone who would like to speak to this item has a chance.
All approved drainage/grading/SWPPP documents must be provided as electronic file, in addition to the hard copy, for PDSD records prior to issuance of the grading permit. Detailed information will be provided shortly.
A new Arizona statute governing legal protests for rezoning cases was recently signed into law and will go into effect on August 9, 2017. The law includes several notable changes:

You can also schedule an appointment with our Permit Counter, Records, and Remote Video Inspection (Skype required).
City Code 16-31(b)(5) prohibits construction noise between the hours of 8:00 p.m. through sunrise Mondays through Saturdays, and at any time on Sundays and legal holidays (Persons may engage in such activities at that person's own residence between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sundays or legal holidays).

Starting on January 9th, 2017 Planning & Development Services will have new service hours for the Permit Counter. Walk through services at the Permit Counter will end at 2 p.m. daily. However, there will be a limited number of appointments available after this time. An online service will soon be available to schedule these appointments.
Planning and Development Services Department is currently working with the Sign Code Subcommittee on revisions to the City's Sign Code to address the recent Reed v. Town of Gilbert Supreme Court Case as directed by Mayor and Council. The Sign Code Subcommittee, which was established/formed on August 9, 2016, includes members from the Citizen Sign Code Committee and from the Planning Commission.
