Building Permits

Permits are issued for residential and commercial buildings.

They cover various trades such as structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, etc.

Building Permit: 'TyyAAnnnnn'
T  - Tucson
yy - the last two numerals of the year, e.g. 08.
AA - type of permit
AC: building (also includes grading)
AN: new addressing certificate
BU: building (also includes grading, wall, pool, fire, demo)
CM: combination of trades (electrical, plumbing, etc.)
DV: violations (entered by DNR)
EX: excavation
FR: fire inspections
H: historical documentation (not active)
ME: mechanical
MH: mobile home
MS: miscellaneous permits
-M: model home plan
OT: other permits (floodplain, peddler, sign)
PI: private improvement agreements
PL: plumbing
PRE: pre-application labels
TC: barricade (entered by TDOT)
VL: (2003-2006) non-zoning violations
VL: (since 2007) stormwater basin violations
ZV: (before 2007) zoning violations
nnnnn - a sequential number. Each year this starts at 1

CDRC

City Development Review Committee (CDRC) review is done for
Development Packages and Subdivision Plats.

Development Plan: 'Dyy-nnnn'
D  - Development plan
yy - the last two numerals of the year, e.g. 08.
nnnn - a sequential number. Each year this starts at 1.

Development Standards Modification:

'DSyy-nnn'

DS  - Development Standards
yy - the last two numerals of the year, e.g. 08.
nnnn - a sequential number. Each year this starts at 1
Subdivision Plat: 'Syy-nnn'
S  - Subdivision plat
yy - the last two numerals of the year, e.g. 08.
nnn - a sequential number. Each year this starts at 1

Rezoning

Rezoning is the process that changes the type
of use and density allowed on a piece of land.

Rezoning Case: 'C9-yy-nn' or 'Co9-yy-nn'
C9  - City Rezoning
Co9  - County Rezoning
yy - the last two numerals of the year, e.g. 08.
nn - a sequential number. Each year this starts at 1.
Original City Zoning: 'C15-yy-nn'
C15  - Original City Zoning (zoning of newly annexed area)
yy - the last two numerals of the year, e.g. 08.
nn - a sequential number. Each year this starts at 1.
Rezoning Subsection: 'RZyy-nnn'
RZ  - used to distinguish the area and type of a subsection of a rezoning
yy - the last two numerals of the year, e.g. 08.
nn - a sequential number. Each year this starts at 1

Zoning Administration

Zoning Administration (ZA) cases include Board of Adjustment hearings, DDO cases for Landscape & Screening or Setback & Height, Design Review Board, Historic Preservation and overlay zone reviews, Liquor Modification Plans, and Modification of Design Regulations.

SA: Special Applications. This covers all types of Zoning Administration cases.

Zoning Administration Statuses:
Applied - An application for a ZA case has been submitted.
Approved - All reviews have been completed & approved.
Closed - This ZA case has been closed with no changes made
Denied - Request is denied.
Expired - ZA case must be renewed or reapplied for.
Withdrawn - Applicant has decided not pursue the request.
