Since the beginning of the project in 2009, there have been seven public meetings, five project task force meetings, meetings with homeowner and neighborhood associations, site visits with interested parties, seven project mass mailings and ads, numerous business outreach meetings and more than 300 comments received, reviewed and considered. Public comments have contributed to the review of numerous alternatives and a number of design modifications.
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) approved the project plan in 2014. Mitigation measures resulting from the Environmental Assessment process are included in the final design plan.
