Issue –This item has been scheduled at the request of Mayor Rothschild for consideration and adoption of the attached Resolution.
City Manager's Office Recommendation –The City Manager’s Office recommends that the Mayor and Council consider and approve the attached Resolution.
Background and Present Considerations – The attached Resolution calls upon the Arizona Legislature and United States Congress to support efforts to enact legislation that requires full transparency of significant political fundraising and spending; that limits or ends the influence of “dark money” and “grey money;” that increases disclosure requirements for paid lobbyists; and that strengthens the investigative and enforcement authority of relevant state and federal agencies to provide for consistent enforcement of campaign finance rules.
Plan Tucson Considerations – This item relates to Chapter Four, Plan Implementation & Administration, and the City’s ability to implement Plan Tucson by having the right foundational elements in place, such as resources, partnerships, proceedings, agreements and other administrative elements.
Financial Considerations – None. The Resolution does not adopt any local regulations or requirements.
Legal Considerations – The City Attorney has prepared the attached Resolution for Mayor and Council consideration.
