On Friday, February 26, 2016, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on westbound 22nd Street from Alvernon Way to Country Club Road.
Milling (removing asphalt) work will take place on Friday, February 26, 2016 and on Monday, February 29, 2016. Prep work and repaving the roadway will take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 through Thursday, March 3, 2016. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. During the work, at least one lane of travel will be maintained on westbound 22nd Street.
Following Friday’s milling work and over the weekend, there will be an uneven surface between the median island travel lane and center travel lane on westbound 22nd Street. For the safety of the traveling public, barricades will be in place between the two travel lanes to prohibit motorists from changing lanes.
This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
Business access will be maintained at all times during the work, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
