On Wednesday, September 9, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin asphalt repairs on 22nd Street from Pantano Road to Sarnoff Drive in preparation for the final paving on 22nd Street. The repairs are scheduled to be complete by Friday, September 11, 2015. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with 24 hour travel lane restrictions. At least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained during this work.
On Monday, September 14, 2015 and Tuesday, September 15, 2015, work crews from Southern Arizona Paving will mill (remove asphalt) various sections of 22nd Street in preparation for the final paving on 22nd Street. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with travel lane restrictions in place during the work hours.
The final paving on 22nd Street from Pantano Road to Sarnoff Drive is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, September 15, 2015 through Thursday, September 17, 2015. Work hours will be 8 p.m.to 5 a.m. each day. At least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained during this work.
Following the repaving work, crews will raise manhole covers and water valve covers on 22nd Street from Kolb Road to Sarnoff Drive. The utility adjustment work will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., with 24 hour lane closures to allow concrete to properly cure.
This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
