22nd Street - Tucson Boulevard to Alvernon Way




On Monday, January 4, 2016, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on 22nd Street from Tucson Boulevard to Alvernon Way.

Crews will begin the project with the lowering of utilities on Monday, January 4 through Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Monday, January 11, 2016, crews will begin milling (removing asphalt) and repaving 22nd Street. The paving work is scheduled to be complete by Monday, February 1, 2016 followed by utility adjustments the week of February 8, 2016. At least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained during this work. Electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists of this upcoming work. The above schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather.

This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
