On Tuesday and Wednesday, July 5 and 6, 2016, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin lowering manhole covers and water valve covers in the intersection of Alvernon Way and Ft. Lowell Road in preparation of an upcoming intersection improvement project. Crews will work 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
On Thursday and Friday, July 7 and 8, 2016, crews will begin milling the intersection from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and will continue with paving on Saturday, July 9, 2016 working 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists of this upcoming work. One lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during the work. The project is scheduled to be complete by Friday, July 15, 2016.
Business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling and walking in the work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
This pavement improvement project is part of the voter-approved $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery.
