Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, are beginning a bicycle/pedestrian improvement project on Broadway from Aviation Parkway to Fourth Avenue downtown.
Crews are constructing a Two-Way Cycle Track (also known as separated/protected bike lanes) on westbound Broadway. The work also includes the installation of new curb access ramps, sidewalks, street signage and modifications of the existing pavement markings and traffic signals. Demolition work will begin tomorrow, January 17, 2018. The project is scheduled to be complete in early April 2018. Crews will work Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Electronic message boards to notify the traveling public of this project were in place last week. During the duration of the project, westbound Broadway from Euclid Avenue to Toole Avenue will be reduced to two travel lanes. Motorists can expect delays when traveling into the downtown area.
