As part of the Campbell Avenue Streetscape Enhancement Project, crews from Pima Paving, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will begin installing underground irrigation lines across Campbell Avenue between Grant Road and Glenn Street.
The irrigation work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 and be complete by Friday, September 25, 2015. During these three nights, travel on Campbell Avenue between Grant Road and Glenn Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The Campbell Avenue Streetscape Enhancement Project, funded with Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and Federal monies, began August 17, 2015. The $670,000 project includes several landscaped raised center lane median islands along Campbell Avenue between Grant Road and Fort Lowell Road.
Other enhancements include sidewalk connections, concrete pavers, colored stamped asphalt crosswalks, feature walls at the Glenn Street intersection, raised planters and new landscaping and irrigation. Crews are working Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., with occasional night work. The project is scheduled to be complete in late November 2015.
The project is part of the $2.1 billion RTA plan which will be implemented through 2026. The multimodal plan, nearly halfway through implementation, includes roadway, safety, transit, environmental and economic vitality improvements. This project is managed by the City of Tucson.
