On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, crews from Clear Contracting, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to install a large underground drainage box culvert in Belvedere Avenue at Lester Street. The work extends north and south on Belvedere Avenue and the work will take approximately two weeks to complete. Belvedere Avenue will be closed from just north of Pima Street to just north of Lester Street. Residents on Lester Street, east of Belvedere Avenue, can access northbound Belvedere Avenue only. Residents on Lester Street, west of Belvedere Avenue, can only access Catalina Avenue to the west. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
The closure of Belvedere Avenue and Seneca Street has reopened. The closure at Catalina Avenue and Lester Streets will reopen Wednesday morning, January 25, 2017.
This work is part of the Columbus Wash Drainage Improvements currently underway on Lester Street, between Catalina Avenue and Belvedere Avenue. Drainage improvements include installation of a new underground drainage system between these two streets and utility improvements (sewer and water) at various locations on Catalina Avenue, Belvedere Avenue, and Lester Street.
