First Avenue Repaving at Roger Road and Prince Road

On Monday, January 6, 2020, Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Transportation Department, will begin work to mill (remove asphalt) and repave a section of First Avenue north and south of Roger Road, and a section of First Avenue north and south of Prince Road.

During this two-day project, crews will work from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. One travel lane will be maintained in each direction on First Avenue, with periodic left-turn restrictions for northbound motorists turning west onto Roger Road. There are no travel lane restrictions on Roger Road.

Additionally, one travel lane will be maintained in each direction on First Avenue, with periodic left-turn restrictions for northbound motorists turning west onto Prince Road, and for southbound motorists turning east onto Prince Road. There are no travel lane restrictions on Prince Road.

Crews will mill a 145 foot-long section of northbound First Avenue, just south of Prince Road, and a 200 foot-long section of southbound First Avenue, just north of Prince Road, a 200 foot-long section of northbound First Avenue, just south of Roger Road, and a 350 foot-long section of southbound First Avenue, just north of Roger Road. Crews will return the following day to repave the milled sections of roadway.

The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists of this upcoming work. The traveling public can expect delays in this area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for work crews.
