On Monday, July 6, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on Grande Avenue from Speedway Boulevard to Congress Street.
Crews will begin the project with the removal of pavement bump-outs. Lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers will take place Thursday, July 16 and Friday, July 17. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, July 21, 2015, crews will begin milling (removing asphalt) and repaving Grande Avenue. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The paving work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, July 24, 2015. Utility adjustments will take place Wednesday, July 29, 2015 through Friday, July 31, 2015.
This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. At least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during this work. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
