Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II - Stone Avenue to Park Avenue

Work to widen Grant Road from Stone Avenue to Park Avenue commenced today with the majority of work taking place on the south side of Grant Road outside of current travel lanes. Markham Contracting, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), began removing and salvaging landscape material, excavating, relocating/installing utilities, and completing investigative potholing. This work will take several weeks to complete. Utility companies continue to work to relocate infrastructure, which could lead to periodic travel lane restrictions along this section of Grant Road.

Phase II of the Grant Road Improvement Project will improve Grant Road from just west of Stone Avenue to just east of Park Avenue. Crews will work Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Work is expected to be complete in summer 2018. The improvements include:

• Six vehicular travel lanes

• Protected bike/pedestrian street crossings

• Drainage improvements

• Indirect left turns at Stone and First

• Bike lanes & sidewalks

• Bus pullouts and bus shelters

• Sustainability features; water harvesting

• Public Art
