Southbound Pantano Road just north of the Tanque Verde Overpass will be temporarily closed on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. The closure of the single lane roadway will allow crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division to safely remove and replace a streetlight pole.
The narrow width of the roadway does not allow for enough room to accommodate both the equipment needed to complete the work and motor vehicle traffic.
Traffic on westbound Tanque Verde Road will still have access to the Pantano Road off ramp before the bridge to allow motorists to enter the residential area north of Tanque Verde Road. Motorists will not be allowed to travel under the Tanque Verde Road bridge to head south on Pantano Road until the work is complete.
Motorists who need to travel south on Pantano Road from westbound Tanque Verde Road must travel west to the Camino Pio Decimo/Dos Hombres and make a U-turn east to Pantano Road.
Electronic message boards are in place to notify motorists of this temporary closure.
The traveling public can expect delays when driving in the work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area.
