In preparation for an upcoming reconstruction project on 12th Avenue from 44th Street to Santa Paula Street, work crews are conducting underground electrical work at the 12th Avenue and Nebraska Street intersection. To place electrical conduit at the intersection, crews will cut a trench across Nebraska Street on both the east side and west side of 12th Avenue. For the safety of the traveling public, Nebraska Street will be closed to travel at 12th Avenue.

On Monday, January 30, 2017 and Tuesday, January 31, 2017, Nebraska Street will be closed on the east side of 12th Avenue.  The closure will be in place from 7 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Tuesday.

On Wednesday, February 1, 2017 and Thursday, February 2, 2017, Nebraska Street will be closed on the west side of 12th Avenue. The closure will be in place from 7 a.m. Wednesday through 5 p.m. Thursday.

Northbound and southbound travel on 12th Avenue will not be affected during the trench work.

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin lowering manhole covers and water valve covers on 12th Avenue the week of February 6, 2017. Milling and paving work on 12th Avenue is scheduled to begin on Sunday, February 26, 2017 and be complete in mid-March. Final utility work is scheduled to be complete in April. Utility work is scheduled to take place during the day and the reconstruction work will be done at night. The above schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
