Road Recovery Resurfacing Projects

STONE AVENUE  – GRANT ROAD TO DRACHMAN STREET  

SIXTH STREET – PARK AVENUE TO CAMPBELL AVENUE

On Tuesday, May 26, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), began work to improve the pavement conditions on Stone Avenue between Grant Road and Drachman Street and on Sixth Street between Park Avenue and Campbell Avenue.

Crews will begin both projects with the lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers. Lowering the utility covers is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, May, 28, 2015. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

On Monday, June 1, 2015, crews will begin milling (removing asphalt) and repaving Stone Avenue. The paving work is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, June 4, 2015. To lessen the impact on the traveling public the milling and paving work will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day.

On Sunday, June 7, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt will begin milling and repaving Sixth Street from Park Avenue to Campbell Avenue. The paving work is scheduled to be complete by Monday, June 8, 2015.  To lessen the impact on the traveling public the milling and paving work will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day.

These pavement improvement projects are part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the projects, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway.  At least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during this work. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
