A three-month project to improve Scott Avenue between Pennington Street and Congress Street downtown has begun with utility improvements in advance of the streetscape work that includes new streetlights, sidewalks and landscaping.
Contractors for Southwest Gas are currently replacing an underground gas line on Scott Avenue. Southbound Scott Avenue from Pennington Street to Congress Street is closed with only northbound travel open to motorists to access parking garages and businesses on Scott Avenue. Access to parking garages on Scott Avenue is available from Congress Street and northbound Scott Avenue.
Southwest Gas crews are scheduled to work Monday through Saturday, from 6:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. The gas line work is scheduled to be complete in six weeks. Access to businesses in the project area will be maintained during the work. There are signs notifying motorists and pedestrians that businesses are open and accessible during the work.
