CENTURY LINK UTILITY RELOCATION WORK
FOR DOWNTOWN LINKS PHASE III PROJECT
As part of the City of Tucson Department of Transportation's Downtown Links Phase III project, Century Link is continuing work to relocate their existing facilities located within the project limits.
On Sunday, October 11, 2015 through Thursday, October 15, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day, the Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue intersection will be closed to traffic in all directions. The intersection closure is in place each night to allow work crews to install underground conduit in the middle of the intersection. Nearby businesses are open and accessible.
Downtown Links Phase III – Church Avenue to Broadway – is funded by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), the City of Tucson and Pima County and is part of the voter-approved, $2.1 billion RTA plan that runs through 2026. The multimodal plan, nearly halfway through implementation, includes roadway, safety, transit, environmental and economic vitality improvements.
The Downtown Links Phase III project improvements include improved access and connections for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists, linking Barraza-Aviation Parkway and Interstate 10, and downtown with the neighborhoods to the north. The project also provides new and safer underpasses, overpasses and railroad crossings, drainage improvements, multi-use paths, improved sidewalks and bike lanes, and public art.
