CENTURY LINK UTILITY RELOCATION WORK
FOR DOWNTOWN LINKS PHASE III PROJECT
As part of the City of Tucson Department of Transportation's Downtown Links Phase III project, Century Link is continuing work to relocate their existing facilities located within the project limits.
On Tuesday, December 1, 2015 through Friday, December 4, 2015, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, the eastbound curb lane on Sixth Street and the northbound curb lane on Sixth Avenue will be closed to travel.
The closures will allow work crews to conduct underground utility work in manholes.
Downtown Links Phase III – Church Avenue to Broadway – is funded by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), the City of Tucson and Pima County and is part of the voter-approved, $2.1 billion RTA plan that runs through 2026. The multimodal plan, nearly halfway through implementation, includes roadway, safety, transit, environmental and economic vitality improvements.
The Downtown Links Phase III project improvements include improved access and connections for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists, linking Barraza-Aviation Parkway and Interstate 10, and downtown with the neighborhoods to the north. The project also provides new and safer underpasses, overpasses and railroad crossings, drainage improvements, multi-use paths, improved sidewalks and bike lanes, and public art.
