On Sunday, February 22, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on Stone Avenue from Fort Lowell Road to Grant Road.
Crews will be milling (removing asphalt) and repaving Stone Avenue. The milling and paving work is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, February 26, 2015. To minimize impacts to the traveling public, work hours will be 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. When crews have completed the milling and paving portion of the project, they will return during the week of March 2, 2015 to adjust manhole covers and water valve covers flush with the new asphalt.
This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. At least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during this work. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
