On Monday, April 27, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on Stone Avenue from Prince Road to Roger Road.
Crews will be microsurfacing Stone Avenue. Microsurfacing is the application of a thin layer of asphalt emulsion that helps seal the roadway. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Crews will begin the project by adjusting manhole covers and water valve covers and prepping the roadway. Once the microsurfacing is complete, crews will readjust the manhole and water valve covers and restripe the roadway. The work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, May 8, 2015. During the work, at least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained.
This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
