On Saturday, April 25, 2015 and Sunday, April 26, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will mill (remove asphalt) and repave Stone Avenue between Toole Avenue/Franklin Street and Alameda Street. Stone Avenue will be closed to all through traffic during the active construction hours for this project.
Work hours for the two days of milling and paving will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Stone Avenue will be open to traffic both Saturday and Sunday nights. Motorists will be able to detour either on to Franklin Street or Toole Avenue, however, there may be some travel delays. Both Sixth Avenue and Church Avenue are suggested alternate routes when entering downtown from the north during active construction hours.
This pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program – Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
