On Monday, April 1, 2019, crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will shift northbound Kolb Road traffic to the east side of Kolb Road both north and south of Valencia Road. After this switch, both northbound and southbound travel on Kolb Road will be open with two lanes of travel in each direction.
Prior to the shift, crews will adjust the traffic signals at the Kolb and Valencia intersection, beginning at approximately 10 a.m. Pima County Sheriff’s deputies will assist with directing traffic at the intersection during the work. Motorists can expect major delays during this time. Message boards will be in place ahead of this traffic switch to alert motorists.
The Kolb Road traffic shift is scheduled to take place by noon on Monday, April 1.
This project is part of the $2.1 billion Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Plan. The RTA is a special taxing district with a mission to deliver transportation projects that improve our region’s mobility, safety and environment. District voters approved the 20-year RTA plan in 2006. To date, the RTA’s transportation project investments of over $1 billion, generated by the RTA’s half-cent excise tax, are working to support the region’s economic vitality and improve your quality of life.
