On Monday, September 16, 2019, the reconstruction and repaving of Runway Drive from Gardner Lane to Prince Road is set to begin. This project is part of the voter-approved Proposition 101 Tucson Delivers Better Streets Program.
Granite Construction, under contract with the Transportation Department, will begin the improvement project by lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. Crews will then mill (remove) asphalt, lime treat the subgrade, install new asphalt and raise the manhole covers and water valve covers flush with the new asphalt.
Crews will work Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists of this upcoming work.
The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except when heavy equipment is directly in front of driveways. One travel lane in each direction will be maintained. The traveling public can expect delays when driving in this work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area.
