On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 6 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m. , crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will work to upgrade the traffic signals at the Valencia Road and Kolb Road intersection to improve traffic signal operations.
During this work, the traffic signals at the intersection will not be in operation and Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies will direct travel at the intersection. The traveling public can expect major delays at the intersection during this upgrade.
The Valencia Road – Wilmot Road to Kolb Road Improvement Project began in July. The project will increase roadway capacity and enhance safety along the corridor. The project will the widen Valencia Road, roughly one mile east and west of Kolb Road to six lanes. The project includes new bike lanes, sidewalks, drainage structures, lighting, traffic signals and landscaping.
This project is part of the overall $2.1 billion RTA Plan, which will be implemented through 2026. The multimodal plan includes roadway, safety, transit, environmental and economic vitality improvements. For more information on the RTA Plan, visit http://www.rtamobility.com.
