Optical Vehicle Detection Camera Installation at Various Intersections

OPTICAL VEHICLE DETECTION CAMERA INSTALLATION

VARIOUS INTERSECTIONS

On Monday, January 25, 2016, Contractor’s West, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin installing Optical Vehicle Detection (OVD) cameras at 12 various signalized intersections within the City of Tucson.  Work hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The traveling public can anticipate lane restrictions between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Campbell Avenue - Glenn Street to Grant Road Fog Seal

CAMPBELL AVENUE – GLENN STREET TO GRANT ROAD

FOG SEAL

On Saturday, January 16, 2016, crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will begin fog sealing Campbell Avenue between Glenn Street and Grant Road. Work will take place from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. During the work, at least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained.

Road Recovery Resurfacing Project

Campbell Avenue – Ft. Lowell Road to Glenn Street
22nd Street – Tucson Boulevard to Alvernon Way

On Sunday, January 10, 2016, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin milling and paving operations on Campbell Avenue from Ft. Lowell Road to Glenn Street.

AC Hotel by Marriot Construction

Construction is underway on the new AC Hotel by Marriott in Downtown Tucson at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Broadway. The multi-story building will take approximately 18 months to complete.  Daily traffic control set-ups will be necessary in order to construct this new building.  Below is the vehicular travel restrictions associated with this construction. Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures. 

Resurfacing Projects Postponed

Campbell Avenue – Fort Lowell Road to Glenn Street
22nd Street – Tucson Boulevard to Alvernon Way

Current weather conditions and the forecast of inclement weather throughout the week has postponed repaving work on Campbell Avenue from Fort Lowell Road to Glenn Street and on 22nd Street from Tucson Boulevard to Alvernon Way.

Camp Lowell Drive - Swan Road to Columbus Boulevard

REPAVING PROJECT 

On Wednesday, December 9, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will lower manhole covers and water valve covers on Camp Lowell Road between Swan Road and Columbus Boulevard in preparation of an upcoming repaving project. Work hours for the utility lowering will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this work at least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained.

Starr Pass Boulevard - La Cholla Boulevard to Mission Road Asphalt Maintenance Work

Crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation’s Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will conduct pothole repairs on Starr Pass Boulevard from La Cholla Boulevard to Mission Road. The work will take place from Wednesday, December 2, 2015 through Friday, December 4, 2015. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. 

Because sections of this roadway are one lane in each direction, flaggers will be on site to direct travel through the work zone. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 15 miles per hour.

TDOT Initiates Operation Freeze

Beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. today, crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will initiate Operation Freeze in preparation of freezing temperatures tonight. Operation Freeze is put into place to make sure City bridge decks are free of ice and safe for motorists to drive over.

Grant Road - Stone Avenue to Fontana Avenue

Underground utility work being conducted by Century Link associated with the Grant Road Widening Project will require eastbound travel lane closures on Grant Road from Stone Avenue to Fontana Avenue. 

The single, eastbound travel lane closure will take place nightly from 8 p.m. to noon the following day. The travel lane restrictions will be in place from Thursday, November 12, 2015 through Friday, November 13, 2015.
