The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite the public to attend an Open House for Broadway Improvements from Camino Seco to Houghton Road.

22nd Street - Kolb Road to Sarnoff Drive Resurfacing Project: Schedule Update

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), continue work to improve pavement conditions on 22nd Street between Kolb Road and Sarnoff Drive. 

Crews are currently repaving 22nd Street between Kolb Road and Pantano Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The repaving work   on this section of 22nd Street is scheduled to be complete on Sunday, August 2, 2015. No paving work will take place on Friday, July 31, 2015 and Saturday, August 1, 2015.

Tucson Pavement Conditions Have Greatly Improved

New Report From National Transportation Research Group

Tucson’s pavement conditions have improved immensely in the past two years according to a new report released by TRIP, a national transportation research group based out of Washington D.C.

The new report indicates that 32 percent of Tucson’s roadways are in poor condition, compared to two years ago when TRIP reported that 53 percent of Tucson’s streets were in poor condition – fifth worst in the country with populations of 500,000 or more.

Silverbell Road - Goret Road to Grant Road Widening Project

GRANT ROAD/SILVERBELL ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

On Monday, July 27, 2015, crews from Hunter Construction Company, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will begin work to widen the Grant Road and Silverbell Road intersection. This work is part of the Silverbell Road: Goret Road to Grant Road Widening Project, a project funded through the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and regional dollars. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and night work.

Centurylink to Begin Utility Relocation Work for Downtown Links Phase III Project

As part of the City of Tucson Department of Transportation's Downtown Links Phase III project, CenturyLink will begin relocating their existing facilities located within the project limits. The CenturyLink work will consist of relocating several existing underground vaults located within City of Tucson right of way, followed by a year of splicing fiber and copper communication lines which are housed in the new vaults.

Country Club Road - Speedway Boulevard to Aviation Parkway Resurfacing Project

On Monday, July 20, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on Country Club Road from Speedway Boulevard to Aviation Parkway.

 

Crews will begin the project with the lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers. Lowering the utility covers is scheduled to be complete by Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

TRAFFIC ALERT - Houghton Road and 22nd Street Closure

On Friday, July 17, 2015 at 6 p.m., crews from Borderland Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will close the intersection of Houghton Road and 22nd Street. The initial plan to upgrade the water lines at the intersection called for three weeks’ worth of work that would close various travel lanes at various times. By completely closing the intersection, crews will be able to expedite the improvements and complete the work in three days rather than three weeks. The intersection is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m.

22nd Street - Kolb Road to Sarnoff Drive Resurfacing Project

On Monday, July 13, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on 22nd Street from Kolb Road to Sarnoff Drive.

Crews will begin the project with the lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers. Lowering the utility covers is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, July 16, 2015. Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Nogales Highway - Los Reales Road to Irvington Road Resurfacing Project

On Monday, July 6, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on Nogales Highway from Los Reales Road to Irvington Road.

Crews will begin the project with the lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers. Lowering the utility covers is scheduled to be complete by Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Grande Avenue - Speedway Boulevard to Congress Street Resurfacing Project

On Monday, July 6, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the pavement conditions on Grande Avenue from Speedway Boulevard to Congress Street.

Crews will begin the project with the removal of pavement bump-outs. Lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers will take place Thursday, July 16 and Friday, July 17. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Silverbell Road - Goret Road to Grant Road Widening Project

On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, crews from Hunter Construction Company, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), began work to widen and reconstruct Silverbell Road from Goret Road to Grant Road, a project funded through the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and regional dollars. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and night work. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction for the duration of the project. The project is anticipated to be complete in September, 2016.

Asphalt Maintenance Work: La Cholla Boulevard - Ajo Way to 44th Street

Crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation’s Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will conduct pothole repairs on La Cholla Boulevard from Ajo Way to 44th Street. The work will take place from Monday, June 29, 2015 through Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. 

Because this section of roadway is one lane in each direction, flaggers will be on site to direct travel through the work zone. 

Broadway - Pantano Road to Camino Seco Resurfacing Project: UPDATE

The milling (removing asphalt) and repaving work on Broadway from Pantano Road to Camino Seco will begin on Monday, June 29, 2015. Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will work each day from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crews will mill a section of roadway one day and repave that section of roadway the following day. 

Grand Road Repaving - Dodge Boulevard to Richey Boulevard

On Friday, June 19, 2015, crews from Granite Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will remove asphalt and repave a section of Grant Road between Dodge Boulevard and Richey Boulevard. Crews will repair the westbound, curb travel lane from 7 a.m. to noon. During the work, there will be a single lane closure on westbound Grant Road near the job site.
