TRAFFIC ALERT: Valencia Road/Kolb Road Intersection Traffic Signal Upgrade

On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 6 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m. , crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will work to upgrade the traffic signals at the Valencia Road and Kolb Road intersection to improve traffic signal operations. 

During this work, the traffic signals at the intersection will not be in operation and Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies will direct travel at the intersection. The traveling public can expect major delays at the intersection during this upgrade.

Pima Association Of Governments And The City Of Tucson Host Open Houses On Long-Range Regional Transit Plan October 17-18

The Pima Association of Governments (PAG), in partnership with the City of Tucson, is hosting two open houses focusing on the development of a Long-Range Regional Transit Plan. Meet with staff from PAG and the City of Tucson and consultants from Jarrett Walker + Associates to discuss the following topics about transit in the Tucson region during the next 10 years:

• The amount of transit service that is appropriate for the Tucson region

• Balancing bus frequency and route coverage

Traffic Alert: Tucson Meet Yourself Event Downtown Road Closures

Downtown Tucson will host “Tucson Meet Yourself” this weekend from Friday, October 12, 2018 through Sunday, October 14, 2018. Below is a list of road closures that will be in place for vendor set up and for the event. Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures. 

Tuesday, October 9, 2018, from 6 p.m. to Sunday, October 14, 2018 at midnight – Pennington Street will be closed from Church Avenue to Stone Avenue.

Traffic Alert Broadway – Camino Seco To Houghton Road Traffic Shift

On Monday, October 8, 2018, at approximately 10 p.m., eastbound and westbound traffic on Broadway will shift to the north side of the roadway between Houghton and Harrison roads. Since the start of the project on September 17, 2018, crews have been salvaging landscaping and grading the north shoulder area of Broadway to install a temporary travel lane for this traffic shift. Shifting traffic to the north side of Broadway will allow crews to begin the excavation work to install underground drainage structures and new waterlines from Houghton Road to Harrison Road. 

Operation Splash -Rodeo Grounds Sandbag Distribution Site Will Open Today

To assist residents with property protection from potential flooding due to remnants of Hurricane Rosa, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation will open its sandbag distribution site today from noon to 8 p.m., in the north parking lot of the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, 4823 S. Sixth Avenue. Please see the attached map for more details.

Traffic Alert Grant Road/Oracle Road Paving Project

On Monday, October 1, 2018, work will begin to repave Grant Road from 15th Avenue to Ninth Avenue and Oracle Road from Rillito Street to Alturas Street, including the Grant Road and Oracle Road intersection.

Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will begin the paving project by lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. The utility lowering work is scheduled to begin Monday, October 1, 2018 and is anticipated to be complete by Friday, October 5, 2018. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Traffic Alert Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone Avenue To Park Avenue Indirect/Express Left Operations Begin

With striping work complete on Grant Road from Castro Avenue, just west of Stone Avenue, to Santa Rita Avenue, work will begin on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 to activate the Indirect/Express left turn operations at Stone Avenue and at First Avenue on Grant Road.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II, Stone Avenue To Park Avenue Final Paving/Utility Adjustment Update

Final paving work on Grant Road from Stone Avenue to Park Avenue will continue through Sunday morning September  9, 2018. Crews are working at night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. tonight and tomorrow night (Saturday), into Sunday morning.

During paving operations, at least one lane of travel in each direction on Grant Road will be maintained. There will be periodic left turn restrictions in place during the paving work. 

Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone Avenue To Park Avenue Final Paving

Work to complete the widening of Grant Road from Stone Avenue to Park Avenue is nearing completion with final paving operations set to begin on Monday, August 27, 2018. Crews will pave the new six lane roadway at night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The work is scheduled to be complete by Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 6 a.m.

During paving operations, at least one lane of travel in each direction on Grant Road will be maintained. There will be periodic left turn restrictions in place during the paving work.

Grant Road Phase II Stone to Park - Travel Lane Restrictions for Utility Adjustments

On Thursday, August 23, 2018, crews will lower sewer manhole covers and water valve covers on Stone Avenue and on Grant Road in preparation of asphalt milling work and the final paving operations on Grant Road. The one-day utility lowering work will take place from 5 a.m. to about 3 p.m.

During the utility lowering work, Stone Avenue will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction from Alturas Street to Grant Road. Travel lane restrictions on Grant Road will take place at Hampton Avenue and at Santa Rita Avenue.

Traffic Alert - River Road Travel Lane Restrictions - Stone Avenue to First Avenue

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, from 6 p.m. to about 6 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018, travel on River Road will be limited to one lane both eastbound and westbound from approximately Stone Avenue to First Avenue for water line work.  The same travel lane restrictions will be in place on Thursday August 16, 2018 at 8 p.m. to until approximately 6 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2018.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II - Stone Avenue to Park Avenue - Stone Avenue Travel Restrictions at Grant Road

On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, beginning at 5 a.m., the northbound and southbound median island travel lanes on Stone Avenue from Sahuaro Street to Alturas Street will be closed to traffic. The travel lane closures will be in place until about 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018. The closure will allow work crews to safely conduct median island work at the Stone Avenue and Grant Road intersection.
