Traffic Alert Broadway Median Island Tree Trimming Travel Lane Restrictions

On Friday, December 14, 2018, from about 3 a.m. to 6 a.m., travel lane restrictions will be in place on Broadway, just west of Wilmot Road to allow crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) to safely trim a large tree in the median island.

During the work, crews will close the eastbound median island and center travel lane and the westbound median island travel lane. At least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during this work.

Valencia Road - Wilmot Road To Kolb Road Valencia Road Traffic Switch

Base paving operations on south side of Valencia Road from Wilmot Road to east of the Kolb Road intersection are ongoing, with the anticipated completion date being Sunday, December 9, 2018, at about 5 p.m. Following this work, crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin temporary paving in the Valencia Road and Kolb Road intersection to facilitate an upcoming traffic shift. This temporary paving work will begin Sunday, December 9, 2018 at about 10 p.m., through 5 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018.

Traffic Alert: Fourth Avenue Street Fair Temporary Road Closures And Sun Link Streetcar Temporary Route Adjustments

Fourth Avenue will be the host of the annual Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair this weekend.  The Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair begins on Friday, December 7, 2018 and is open daily through Sunday, December 9, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Attendance for the Street Fair is estimated to be approximately 300,000 people, so please adjust travel plans accordingly.

Houghton Road Bridge Over Union Pacific Railroad Final Striping Rescheduled

With final paving operations complete on the approach ramps for the new Houghton Road bridges over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, crews with Pulice Construction will begin final striping on the approach ramps and new bridges on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. The striping work will take place from 10 a.m. to about 3 p.m.

For the safety of the traveling public and work crews, flaggers will direct travel through the work zone. Motorists should expect delays in the area during this work.

Houghton Road Bridge Over Union Pacific Railroad Final Striping POSTPONED

The final striping planned for tonight on the approach ramps and new bridges on Houghton Road over the Union Pacific Railroad has been postponed due to a mechanical issue on the striping vehicle. An updated striping schedule has yet to be determined at this time.

Crews are continuing work to complete miscellaneous concrete work on the bridges, pedestrian fence work, as well as landscape planting and erosion control work.  The project is scheduled to be complete in later this month.

Traffic Alert Downtown Road Closures Dusk Festival, November 8 – November 11, 2018

To accommodate the increase in pedestrian activity and for the safety of the traveling public downtown for the Dusk Music festival Thursday through Sunday, the following road closures and restrictions will be in place: 
On Thursday, November 8 and Friday November 9, 5th Avenue, 6th Avenue and Scott Avenue will be closed between 12th Street and 13th Street.
On Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11, 5th Avenue, 6th Avenue and Scott Avenue will be closed between 12th Street and 13th Street.

 

Grant Road Phases 3 And 4 Grant Road Paving – Sparkman Boulevard To Venice Avenue

On Thursday, November 8, 2018 and Friday, November 9, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, work crews will repave sections of Grant Road and side streets from Sparkman Boulevard to Venice Avenue, roughly Country Club Road to Columbus Boulevard, where previous underground utility work took place for the design of Grant Road Phases 3 and 4.

Traffic Alert Broadway – Camino Seco To Houghton Road Project - Traffic Shift From Camino Seco To Harrison

     
On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will install temporary asphalt on the north side Broadway from Camino Seco to Harrison Road in preparation of an upcoming traffic shift. Paving operations will take place from approximately 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bicycling magazine has announced the results of its biennial ranking of America’s 50 Best Bike Cities and Tucson ranked number 24. Editors analyzed data from more than 70 cities across the U.S., including safety statistics, the number of bicycle facilities, people per bike share, and bicycle-friendly businesses. TRAFFIC ALERT: Valencia Road/Kolb Road Intersection Traffic Signal Upgrade

On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 6 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m. , crews from KE&G Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will work to upgrade the traffic signals at the Valencia Road and Kolb Road intersection to improve traffic signal operations. 

During this work, the traffic signals at the intersection will not be in operation and Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies will direct travel at the intersection. The traveling public can expect major delays at the intersection during this upgrade.

Pima Association Of Governments And The City Of Tucson Host Open Houses On Long-Range Regional Transit Plan October 17-18

The Pima Association of Governments (PAG), in partnership with the City of Tucson, is hosting two open houses focusing on the development of a Long-Range Regional Transit Plan. Meet with staff from PAG and the City of Tucson and consultants from Jarrett Walker + Associates to discuss the following topics about transit in the Tucson region during the next 10 years:

• The amount of transit service that is appropriate for the Tucson region

• Balancing bus frequency and route coverage
