All Souls Procession - Travel Information

Downtown will be the host of the annual All Souls Procession on Sunday, November 9, 2014.  The Procession will stage in the historic Warehouse District at Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street beginning Sunday at 4 p.m. The procession will begin moving through downtown at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Procession begins at Sixth Avenue and Alameda Street, proceeds west on Alameda Street to Granada Avenue and turns south to Congress Street.

Speedway Boulevard: Greasewood Road to Silverbell Road

RESURFACING PROJECT

On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve pavement conditions on Speedway Boulevard from Greasewood Road to Silverbell Road. Crews will begin the project by lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, November 7, 2014.  

East Broadway Travel Lane Restrictions: 5900 E. Broadway

On Friday, October 31, 2014, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will close both the eastbound and the westbound median island travel lanes at 5900 E. Broadway, in front of Park Place Mall, to remove a dead Eucalyptus tree located in the median island. The closure will take place from 4:30 a.m. to approximately 6:30 a.m. tomorrow. The lane closures will be approximately 200 feet long on each side of where the work is taking place.

On Monday, October 27, 2014, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve pavement conditions on Speedway Boulevard from Alvernon Way to Rosemont Boulevard. Crews will begin the project by lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, October 31, 2014. 

Houghton Road/Broadway Intersection Improvement - Final Paving REVISED

On Monday, October 20, 2014, crews from Borderland Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin the final paving at the Houghton Road and Broadway intersection. The final paving work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, October 24, 2014. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Crews will begin the project by lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An Eventful Weekend Downtown And Around - Travel Information

Downtown Tucson and areas near downtown will be the host of several exciting events this weekend. Below is a list of the major events and associated motor vehicle travel restrictions. Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures. Businesses, parking garages and parking lots are open and accessible. There are over 15,000 available parking spaces in the Downtown Tucson.

Bike Share Program Public Input Session

The City of Tucson is exploring the potential of a public bike share program for the region. Bike share programs are a service where people can use a public bicycle on a short-term basis. More than 30 cities in the U.S. have launched this new transit option for their residents and tourists, and 15 more cities are expected to launch this shared-use program by the end of the year, including Phoenix.

Fourth Avenue Access to Downtown Detour: Traffic Congestion to Determine Detour Times

Moving forward and until further notice, southbound motor vehicle travel through the Fourth Avenue Underpass will be detoured to Stevens Avenue on Friday nights and Saturday nights on an as-needed basis if Sun Link Streetcar operations are affected. Tucson police officers will continue to provide point control starting at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays to assist with motor vehicle and pedestrian movements at the Congress Street, Fourth Avenue and Toole Avenue intersection.

AJO WAY - COUNTRY CLUB ROAD TO 14TH AVENUE 
SIXTH STREET - COUNTRY CLUB ROAD TO CAMPBELL AVENUE

Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, has issued a revised milling and paving schedule for two projects - Ajo Way from Country Club Road to 14th Avenue and Sixth Street from Country Club Road to Campbell Avenue.

The revised schedule is as follows:

City of Tucson Opens Sandbag Drop-Off Location

Residents who no longer want to keep sandbags distributed earlier this week in preparation of severe weather can return the bags to the parking lot of the Ward 5 Council Office at 4300 S. Park Avenue. The drop-off location opened today at 10 a.m. and will remain open until Friday, September 26, 2014 at 5 p.m. Staff from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will collect the sandbags at the end of each work day. Staff will not be on hand to collect sandbags from residents.

Ajo Way - Country Club Road to 14th Avenue Resurfacing Project Work Rescheduled Until Tomorrow

The milling and paving work scheduled for today on Ajo Way from Country Club Road to Kino Boulevard has been canceled due to wet roadways. Crews will resume milling and paving operations on Saturday, September 20, 2014 beginning at 5:30 a.m. Crews will work until 6 p.m. tomorrow, weather permitting. During this work two lanes of travel will be maintained in each direction.
