Speedway Boulevard : Main Avenue to Second Avenue Resurfacing Project

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), began work today to improve the roadway conditions on Speedway Boulevard from Main Avenue to Second Avenue, which is just west of Euclid Avenue. The pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Kolb Road Street Light Repairs

On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, work crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will relamp and make repairs to all the street lights on the west side of Kolb Road from Tanque Verde Road to Speedway Boulevard. Crews will be working from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work is scheduled to be complete in one day.

Pedestrian Access Improvements: Various Locations Citywide

On Monday, August 18, 2014, crews from West Point Contractors, Inc., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, will begin work to improve pedestrian access along various City arterial streets. The work involves installing access ramps and driveway improvements. Crews will work Monday through Friday, from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.

12th Avenue Asphalt Maintenance Work: Santa Paula Street to Bilby Road

Crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will be performing asphalt maintenance work on 12th Avenue between Santa Paula Street and Bilby Road.  The work begins on Monday, August 18, 2014 and is scheduled to be complete by Friday, August 29, 2014. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A single travel lane restriction will be in place while crews are performing this maintenance work. At least one lane of travel will be maintained in each direction.

Sixth Street - Campbell Avenue to Country Club Road Resurfacing Project

On Monday, July 28, 2014, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the roadway conditions on Sixth Street from Campbell Avenue to Country Club Road. The pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Sunrise on SunLink Streetcar Grand Opening Celebrations

On Friday, July 25, 2014 the City of Tucson and the Regional Transportation Authority will host a series of ribbon cutting events to formally celebrate the Sun Link Tucson Streetcar launch. The morning festivities will begin with ribbon cuttings at four districts to acknowledge their participation and support in making the streetcar become a reality.

Sunlink Streetcar Grand Opening - Travel Information

Downtown Tucson will host the grand opening ceremony for the Sun Link Modern Streetcar on Friday, July 25, 2014. The ceremony will begin at approximately 9 a.m. at the intersection of Congress Street and Fifth Avenue, and is the beginning of multiple, weekend-long celebrations all along the Streetcar route. The main grand opening ceremony will conclude around 10 a.m. and free streetcar service through the weekend will begin at that time. Below is the vehicular travel restrictions associated with this event.

Sixth Street: Ferro Avenue to Park Avenue Resurfacing Project

On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the roadway conditions on Sixth Street from Ferro Avenue (just west of Sixth Avenue) to Park Avenue. The pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Sixth Avenue Underpass Closure

On Tuesday, July 8, 2014 through Thursday, July 10, 2014 the Sixth Avenue Underpass downtown will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to allow crews from Graffiti Protective Coatings (GPC) to repaint the underpass.

Electronic message boards are in place to notify the traveling public of this closure.  Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians will be prohibited from using the underpass during the work hours.

22nd Street Asphalt Maintenance Work: Country Club to Tucson Boulevard

Crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will be performing asphalt maintenance work on 22nd Street between Country Club Road and Tucson Boulevard. The work begins Wednesday, June 25, 2014 and is expected to be complete by Friday, July 11, 2014. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A single travel lane restriction will be in place while crews are performing this maintenance work. At least two lanes of travel will be maintained.

Crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will be performing maintenance work on the Sixth Avenue Underpass downtown to prepare the underpass for repainting. 

Because of this work, beginning Monday, June 16, 2014 through Friday, June 20, 2014 Sixth Avenue at the underpass will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians will be prohibited from using the underpass during the work hours.
