Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone Avenue to Park Avenue - Southbound Euclid at Grant Road Closure - Park Avenue Closed South of Grant Road

On Monday, July 2, 2018, southbound Euclid Avenue at Grant Road will be closed to travel so that work crews can mill and pave a section of southbound Euclid Avenue. The closure will be in place from about 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists and bicyclists traveling south on Euclid Avenue at Grant Road will be allowed to turn eastbound or westbound on Grant Road. Northbound travel on Euclid Avenue will not be affected by this work.

It is among a group of seven municipalities, parking authorities, or university parking programs that achieved either Accreditation or Accreditation with Distinction this year.

Traffic Alert - Stone Avenue and Limberlost Road Traffic Signal Control Replacement

On Thursday, June 28, 2018 and Friday, June 29, 2018 crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will replace the traffic signal control cabinet at Stone Avenue and Limberlost Road. Work hours will be 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the work, the traffic signals and street lighting at the intersection will be completely inoperable, and the intersection will be considered a four-way stop, with stop signs in place.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone Avenue to Park Avenue - Sixth Avenue Median Island Work Temporary Traffic Signal Removals

On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, Sixth Avenue south of Grant Road will be closed to travel to allow crews to install new concrete median islands on Sixth Avenue. The closure will be in place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Traffic Alert - Benson Highway and Campbell Avenue/Kino Parkway Traffic Signal Control Replacement

On Thursday, June 21, 2018 and Friday, June 22, 2018 crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will replace the traffic signal control cabinet at Benson Highway and Campbell Avenue/Kino Parkway. Work hours will be 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.  During the work, the traffic signals and street lighting at the intersection will be completely inoperable, and the intersection will be considered a four-way stop, with stop signs in place.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone Avenue to Park Avenue - Park Avenue Closed North of Grant Road

On Friday, June 22, 2018, Park Avenue just north of Grant Road will be closed to travel at approximately 5 a.m. and is scheduled to reopen at 1 p.m. the same day, to allow work crews to prepare the roadway for upcoming paving operations along Grant Road. On Monday, June 25 and on Tuesday, June 26, Park Avenue north of Grant will once again close from approximately 5 a.m. until about 5 p.m. both days, while the contractor completes the paving operations.

Traffic Alert - Golf Links and Pantano Traffic Signal Control Replacement

On Thursday, June 14, 2018 and Friday, June 15, 2018 crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will replace the traffic signal control cabinet at Golf Links Road and Pantano Parkway. Work hours will be 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the work, the traffic signals and street lighting at the intersection will be completely inoperable, and the intersection will be considered a four-way stop, with stop signs in place. 

Road Recovery Bond Program - 22nd Street Repaving Project

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin a repaving project on 22nd Street from Houghton Road to about one-half mile east of Houghton Road.  The project will begin with the lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers tomorrow, Friday, June 8, 2018.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II - Stone Avenue to Park Avenue - Park Avenue Closed North of Grant Road and Additional Side Street Closures

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, Park Avenue just north of Grant Road will be closed to travel to allow work crews to repave this section of roadway.  The closure will be in effect from approximately 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. the same day. During the closure, motorists and bicyclists traveling south on Park Avenue will not have access to Grant Road.  Glenn Street can be used as a detour. Motorists and bicyclists traveling north on Park Avenue approaching Grant Road will be allowed to turn eastbound and westbound on Grant Road. Through travel will be prohibited during the closure.

Road Recovery Bond Program - Tanque Verde Road - Sabino Canyon Road to Kolb/Grant Roads Repaving Project - Final Paving Delayed

The final section of milled roadway on Tanque Verde Road between Sabino Canyon Road and Kolb/Grant Roads is scheduled to be repaved on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Originally the final paving was scheduled to be complete on Friday, June 8, 2018; however, a supply shortage of oil and asphalt is delaying the work.

Following the final paving operations, crews are scheduled to raise the manhole covers and water valve covers flush with the new asphalt on Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 20.  

Traffic Alert - First Avenue and Glenn Street Traffic Signal Control Replacement

On Thursday, June 7, 2018 and Friday, June 8, 2018 crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will replace the traffic signal control cabinet at First Avenue and Glenn Street.  Work hours will be 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.  During the work, the traffic signals and street lighting at the intersection will be completely inoperable, and the intersection will be considered a four-way stop, with stop signs in place.

Tucson Department of Transportation Prepares for Summer Thunderstorm Season - Initiates Operation Splash

Protecting the traveling public on City streets during Tucson’s summer thunderstorm season is the objective of the Tucson Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Operation Splash campaign. As weather patterns shift to bring moisture into Tucson, crews from TDOT’s Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division are delivering barricades to hundreds of dip crossings throughout the City.

On Monday, June 4, 2018 through Friday, June 8, 2018, at about 6:30 a.m. each day, TDOT crews will deliver more than 500 barricades to approximately 150 dip crossings throughout the City.

Traffic Alert - Storm Drain Maintenance - Stone Avenue Underpass Closure

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division has scheduled a vactor contractor to clean debris and sediment from the storm drains in the Stone Avenue Underpass just north of downtown.

The maintenance work will begin at midnight on Monday, June 4, 2018. The work is scheduled to be complete by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. During the work, travel lanes in the underpass will be closed to motorists. Please obey all traffic control signs.

 

Tucson Boulevard Storm Grate Replacement at Grant Road

On Monday, June 4, 2018, crews from Borderland Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT),  will begin reconstructing the storm drain catch basin on Tucson Boulevard just south of Grant Road. The work will also include the installation of a new storm grate. The project is scheduled to be complete in mid-July.
