Broadway Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project Sign Installation - Westbound Broadway at Euclid Avenue / Aviation Parkway Closure and Travel Lane Restrictions

On Friday, April 6, 2018, from approximately 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. the same day, westbound Broadway from Euclid Avenue to Aviation Parkway will have intermittent travel lane closures to allow crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co. to install an 85-foot-long overhead sign structure on Broadway.

The directional sign is part of the recently completed project to construct a Two-Way Cycle Track (also known as separated/protected bike lanes) on westbound Broadway into Downtown.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II - Stone Avenue to Park Avenue - Grant Road / Stone Avenue Intersection Closure

To expedite the base paving operations at the Grant Road and Stone Avenue intersection, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and its contractor, Markham Contracting, will close the intersection to through travel from Friday, March 23, 2018 to Sunday, March 25, 2018.  The intersection closure will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and is scheduled to reopen by 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Closing the intersection to travel will allow the contractor to prep the subgrade and complete the paving work in one weekend.

Road Recovery Bond Program - Midvale Park Road - Valencia Road to Irvington Road Repaving Project

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin lowering manhole covers and water valve covers on Midvale Park Road from Valencia Road to Irvington Road on Monday, March 19, 2018, in preparation of an upcoming repaving project. The utility lowering work is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, March 22, 2018. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., each day.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone to Park - Park Avenue Closed North of Grant Road

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, Park Avenue just north of Grant Road will be closed to travel to allow crews to work on underground utility lines.  The closure will be in effect from approximately 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. the same day. During the closure, motorists and bicyclists traveling south on Park Avenue will not have access to Grant Road.  Glenn Street can be used as a detour. Motorists and bicyclists traveling north on Park Avenue approaching Grant Road will be allowed to turn eastbound and westbound on Grant Road. Through travel will be prohibited during the closure.

Road Recovery Bond Program - Wilmot Road - Pima Street to Golf Links Road Repaving Project

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin lowering manhole covers and water valve covers on Wilmot Road  from Pima Street to Golf Links Road on Monday, March 5, 2018, in preparation of an upcoming repaving project. With over 220 covers to lower, the work is scheduled to be complete by mid April 2018. Crews will work Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone to Park - Park Avenue Closure North of Grant Road

Park Avenue north of Grant Road will be closed to travel to allow work crews to install a new underground water line on Park Avenue. The closure will take place Friday, March 2, 2018 from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the same day. Motorists and bicyclist traveling northbound on Park Avenue on the south side of Grant Road will be allowed to turn east or west on Grant Road. Motorists and bicyclists traveling southbound on Park Avenue on the north side of Grant Road should use Glenn Street as an alternate route during the closure.

Traffic Alert - Fourth Avenue Street Fair - Sun Links Streetcar Temporary Route Adjustments

Fourth Avenue will be the host of the annual Fourth Avenue Spring Street Fair this weekend.  The Fourth Avenue Spring Street Fair begins on Friday, March 2, 2018 and is open daily through Sunday, March 4,

2018, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Attendance for the Street Fair is estimated to be approximately 300,000 people, so please adjust travel plans accordingly.

Road Recovery Bond Program - Wilmot Road - Pima Street to Golf Links Road Repaving Project

On Monday, February 12, 2018, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin underground electrical conduit work at the Wilmot Road and Fairmount Street intersection in preparation of an upcoming repaving project on Wilmot Road from Pima Street to Golf Links Road.

The conduit work is scheduled to be complete in early March 2018. Crews will work Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone to Park - Eastbound Traffic Shift Hampton Street to Park Avenue

On Monday, February 12, 2018, eastbound travel on Grant Road between Hampton Street and Santa Rita Avenue will be shifted to the south side of Grant Road to allow crews to remove an existing sewer line. The sewer line removal will take place between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Following the sewer line removal, eastbound travel on this section of Grant Road will remain in this configuration for the duration of the Grant Road Improvement Project.

Traffic Alert - Speedway Boulevard / Campbell Avenue Intersection Traffic Signal Modification

On Tuesday, February 6, 2018 and on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 crews will modify traffic signals at the Speedway Boulevard and Campbell Avenue intersection.  Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. During the work, the traffic signals will not be in operation and Tucson Police officers will direct travel at the intersection.

Road Recovery Bond Program - Craycroft Road - Grant Road to 29th Street Repaving Project

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin lowering manhole covers and water valve covers on Craycroft Road from Grant Road to 29th Street on Monday, January 29, 2018, in preparation of an upcoming repaving project. With over 200 covers to lower, the work is scheduled to be complete by early March 2018. Crews will work Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Houghton Road / Golf Links Road Traffic Signal Pole Replacement

On Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 6:30 a.m., PACE Electrical Construction Inc., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will replace the traffic signal pole at the intersection of Houghton Road and Golf Links Road for southbound traffic. The work is scheduled to be complete by 11 a.m.  During the work, Tucson Police Department officers will direct traffic through the intersection.

Please use caution when traveling through this area and watch for work crews and personnel providing traffic control.

 

Naylor Neighborhood - Changemaker High School Bridge Dedication

To commemorate the completion of pedestrian improvements and water harvesting basins for the Naylor Neighborhood and Changemaker High School, Pima County, the City of Tucson and students from Changemaker High School invites the public to attend a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new pedestrian bridge at the Swan Park Wash.
