Eastside Resurfacing Projects

On Tuesday, May 26, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), began work to improve the pavement conditions on Speedway Boulevard from Pantano Road to Camino Seco and on Pantano Road from Speedway Boulevard to Broadway and on Broadway from Pantano Road to Camino Seco.

Crews will begin all three projects with the lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers. On both Broadway and on Speedway Boulevard work hours will be 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for eastbound travel lanes, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for westbound travel lanes. On Pantano Road work hours will be 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for northbound travel lanes and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on southbound travel lanes. The utility work on all three roadways is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, June 4, 2015.

On Monday, June 8, 2015, crews will begin milling (removing asphalt) and repaving Speedway Boulevard from Pantano Road to Camino Seco. The work hours will be 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for eastbound travel lanes, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for westbound travel lanes. The Speedway Boulevard paving is scheduled to be complete by Friday, June 12, 2015.

Crews are scheduled to begin the milling and repaving on Pantano Road from Speedway Boulevard to Broadway on Monday, June 15, 2015. The work hours will be 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for northbound travel lanes and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on southbound travel lanes. The Pantano Road paving is scheduled to be complete on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

Once Pantano Road is repaved, crews will begin milling and repaving Broadway from Pantano Road to Camino Seco. The work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 18, 2015 and is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, June 25, 2015. The work hours will be 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for eastbound travel lanes, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for westbound travel lanes.

These pavement improvement projects are part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during these projects, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. At least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during this work. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
