Houghton Road Update

Valencia Road to Mary Ann Cleveland Way: Utility relocation work is being conducted along South Houghton Road between Valencia Road and Mary Ann Cleveland Way in advance of the City of Tucson roadway improvement project in that segment. Crews for both Century Link and Southwest Gas have been relocating or replacing underground lines since early June. The telecommunications work is scheduled for completion inearly September, while the gas line replacement is expected to continue into winter of 2019. Some lane closures and left turn restrictions will be in effect for the Southwest Gas work, according to the utility. Motorists are encouraged to travel safely through the work area and be prepared for brief delays at times.

The City of Tucson’s roadway construction is expected to begin in late 2019.

Union Pacific Railroad Bridge to Interstate 10: Borderland Construction began work in early 2019 in coordination with construction of the bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad to the north and the project is on-schedule and expected to be completed in December 2019. Improvements include six travel lanes, bicycle lanes in each direction, a six-foot asphalt sidewalk on the east side, a dynamic traffic speed sign, drainage improvements and native plant landscaping.

Thank you for your patience during construction.
