On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, crews from Southern Arizona Paving, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to reconstruct Old Spanish Trail from Melpomene Way to Houghton Road.
Crews will begin the project with the lowering of manhole covers and water valve covers. Lowering the manhole and valve covers is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, November 12, 2015. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
On Monday, November 16, 2015 through Wednesday, November 25, 2015, crews will conduct underground water line utility work. This work will also take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
On Monday, November 30, 2015, crews will begin reconstructing Old Spanish Trail with the removal of asphalt and subgrade. This work is scheduled to be complete in late January 2016. Crews will work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather. Electronic message boards are in place to alert motorists of this upcoming work.
During the project, one lane of travel will be maintained in both directions on Old Spanish Trail. Residential access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas.
Phase II of this project – to reconstruct Old Spanish Trail from Houghton Road to Harrison Road – is scheduled to begin in early February 2016.
