As our community continues to navigate this crisis, I just wanted to remind you that my staff is still working remotely as the office is closed until further notice. We will do our best to answer your questions and address your concerns.
Keep in mind that city staff is updating our COVID-19 page with local information and resources. Pima County’s One Stop Program is also available for those of you that need employment help. The State now has an information page up for those of you that want updates from health officials and help with things like unemployment benefits.
There is one issue I’d like to address and that’s the hoarding of bottled water. I’d like to assure you that COVID-19 is not transmitted through water supplies. Here is what the Centers for Disease Control says:
The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods that use filtration and disinfection, such as those in most municipal drinking water systems, should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.
My main priority as a council member is that our water supply is reliable, available and most of all safe. We’ve got one of the best municipal water utilities in the country, and they will continue to deliver a safe supply of water.
Thank you, and I pray that all of your families stay healthy.
