Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin lowering manhole covers and water valve covers on Tanque Verde Road from Sabino Canyon Road to Kolb/Grant roads on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, in preparation of an upcoming repaving project. The utility adjustments will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are scheduled to be complete in one day.
Also during the day, some median island work will take place on Tanque Verde Road near the Sabino Canyon Road intersection on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 through Friday, June 1, 2018.
The milling (removing asphalt) and repaving work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 4, 2018 and is scheduled to be complete by Friday, June 8, 2018. To lessen the impact on the traveling public, the milling and paving work will take place at night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. During this work, at least two lanes of travel in each direction will be maintained. For the safety of the traveling public, travel lane closures will be in place 24 hours a day.
Crews are scheduled to raise the manhole covers and water valve covers flush with the new asphalt on Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 20.
The above schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Business and residential access will be maintained at all times during the project. The traveling public can expect delays when driving in the work areas. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas.
