A total of eight officers, who dedicated their lives to serving the City of Tucson, gave the ultimate sacrifice and were killed in the line of duty. Every year, the Tucson Police Department takes a moment to both remember and honor these heroes for their dedication and service as well as for the price they paid. On the evening of May 10, 2017, the Tucson Police Department will host the 2017 Tucson Police Department Annual Fallen Officer Memorial to honor our fallen officers. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Memorial Courtyard on the front lawn of the Tucson Police Headquarters, located at 270 S. Stone Avenue.
Our speaker for the evening will be Trauma Medical Director for Banner University Medical Center, Dr. Andrew L. Tang. The event will include the Posting of Colors by the Tucson Police Department Honor Guard, the Presentation of Roses and Wreaths as commemoration for our fallen officers, a Video Tribute to our officers, a Rifle Salute with Taps, and a Flyover by the Tucson Police Department Air Unit. Additionally, light refreshments will be provided for attendees immediately following the conclusion of the event.
The fallen heroes, who will be honored at the event include:
- Officer William Elliott - July 3, 1892
- Officer William Katzenstein - July 26, 1902
- Officer Robert Cummins - September 7, 1936
