United Way Tax Help - Late Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Event on April 14-15

United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona is hosting a Late Filing Event, April 14-15, 2015, to help low- and moderate-income taxpayers file their federal and state tax returns for free before the April 15 deadline.

IRS-certified tax preparers will be available at the United Way office at 330 N. Commerce Park Loop:

Tuesday, April 14                             Wednesday, April 15

8 a.m. to 4 p.m.                                 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Healthcare assisters will also be on-site to assist eligible taxpayers with enrollment in healthcare through the Marketplace during a Special Enrollment Period that will end on April 30, 2015. The Special Enrollment Period provides eligible taxpayers an opportunity to avoid significantly increased penalties assessed during the following tax season.

Taxpayers must meet eligibility requirements for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and bring all necessary documents – including government-issued photo IDs and Social Security cards – to receive assistance. No appointment is necessary. Taxpayers with income below $60,000 may also file federal and state returns online for free by visiting unitedwaytucson.org/freefile.

See the list of necessary documents below or visit unitedwaytucson.org/vita for more information, including eligibility requirements for VITA and the Affordable Care Act Special Enrollment Period.

You don’t have to wait until April 14-15. See the list of VITA sites and schedules below, or visit unitedwaytucson.org/vita for more information.
