Mayor Rothschild is requesting that we fly our flags at half staff, in honor of Tom Quesnel, TFD investigator that passed away from cancer. This notice begins today, 3/17, ending at sunset on Friday, 3/21. Funeral services are pending.
First Responders Recognition and Response to Autism Training

On a daily basis, police officers, fire fighters and other first responders encounter a multitude of individuals in emergency situations. Just as each emergency differs from the next, so does the individual involved, especially in regards to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). In response to community concerns, the Tucson Alliance for Autism is offering training for both First Responders and Teens/Young Adults with ASD.
Tucson Police to share more of their "typically unseen" work

The Tucson Police Department is using its Facebook and Twitter pages to highlight some of the work it does that often goes unnoticed by the public. In a posting on Facebook, TPD says it "will be highlighting Department related events, activities, and providing more crime prevention information; but most notably will be our effort to highlight the work typically unseen by the public.

Emergency Water Line Work

Tucson Water crews will be performing emergency water line work which may cause lower-than-normal water pressure for some customers in parts of east Tucson. This water line needs to be replaced as a result of nearby construction activity.
Work is to begin immediately. It is not known how long repairs will take.
The area affected is Tanque Verde / Wrightstown Roads on the north; Sarnoff Road on the east; Pima Street on the south; and Camino Pio Decimo on the west. Customers in this area may notice reduced pressure, but continue to have water service.
Houghton Road Project Open House

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite you to attend an open house for the Houghton Road: Broadway Boulevard to 22nd Street project. This project is part of the overall plan to improve Houghton Road from Tanque Verde Road to Interstate 10. The open house is scheduled for February 25th at Pantano Christian Church (1755 S Houghton Road) from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Details available here.

Claire Weeks - Terra del Sol Park

We had the renaming ceremony on Monday and it was a wonderful event. Great to be there with Claire, her family as well as Councilmember Scott, who Claire worked with for years.
After the ceremony, Terra del Sol resident Frank Davidson and I cleaned up grafitti in the neighborhood wash.

The re-naming of Terra del Sol Park will take place on January 27, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. The park will be re-named after Clair Weeks. Clair Weeks lived in the Terra del Sol neighborhood for many years and has been very active in the community. In addition, she served as the president of the Terra del Sol Neighborhood Association for 18 years and made many achieved efforts with neighborhood and park improvements.

Governor Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset tomorrow, December 20, 2013, in honor of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Two Joshua B. Silverman, 35, of Scottsdale, Arizona.
CW2 Silverman was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom when he and five other soldiers died in a helicopter crash on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, in Now Bahar, Afghanistan. He had been assigned to the 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, based at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Holiday Trash Pick-up and Closures

The Christmas holiday will be observed on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 and the New Year’s Day holiday will be observed on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Trash and recycling will not be collected on Wednesday of the holiday weeks. City of Tucson residential and commercial customers with regular service on Wednesday through Friday will have their trash and recycling service delayed by one day.

John Salazar to ride in the 31st Tour De Tucson
