Paul's Note

I spent some time volunteering with an organization called Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona, better known as CHRPA.

CHIRPA provides homeowners who are usually disabled or on fixed incomes with emergency and necessary home repair. The group was started by Mennonites in 1982 and quickly grew because of both the need in our community and the number of community members willing to give their services.

Smoking Prohibited at Sun Tran Transit Centers

Beginning July 30, 2018, Sun Tran will prohibit smoking within public space at the three City of Tucson transit centers; Ronstadt, Laos and Tohono Tadai. Sun Tran will also introduce designated smoking areas for those passengers, visitors and other patrons who want to smoke/vape. The designated areas are intended to prevent smoke from entering into areas where smoking is prohibited throughout the public space and near bus entrances.

Tucson Industrial Development Authority offers homebuyer assistance

Despite the current healthcare crisis, the Pima Tucson Homebuyers Solution Program (PTHS) continues to help local homebuyers achieve their dream of owning a home at this time.

Offered jointly by the Industrial Development Authorities of the City of Tucson and the County of Pima, the PTHS offers a mortgage loan program - including down payment assistance - to qualifying homebuyers.

Under the PTHS Program, loans are still being acquired daily and continue to be available as mortgage loan interest rates are reset every day in response to market conditions.

Weekly Update

Paul's Note

I visited our new 911 call center located on South Park Avenue. As you might now, we are in the final stages of reorganizing the way 911 calls are handled. One of the first steps to doing that was having a new department, Public Safety Communications, that would handle the work that was previously done by separately by sections of the Police and Fire Departments.

Paul's Note

The work continues at Jesse Owens Park. Although I have been touting the amount of public money I was able to secure from impact fees and service line warranty funds to put into the park, we had a couple of reminders that it isn’t just all about the money.
