Housing Notice

The purpose of this notice is to inform those who have applied for Public Housing, Moderate Rehabilitation or the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Programs that they must log into their applicant portal(s) and indicate that they would like to remain on the waiting list.

To remain on the Waiting list, you must log on to the appropriate Applicant Portal listed on or before January 2, 2018.  We encourage you to access these sites as often as necessary to update your application(s).

Half-Staff Notification

In coordination with the Presidential Proclamation, Governor Doug Ducey has ordered flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff effective immediately, until sunset Friday, October 6, 2017 to honor the victims of the senseless tragedy in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Labor Day Trash Pick Up

The Labor Day holiday will be observed on Monday, September 4, 2017.  Residential and commercial trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday. All City of Tucson residential and commercial customers will have their trash and recycling service delayed by one day. The Los Reales Landfill will be open September 4, 2017.
 

Tucson's Birthday Celebration

A free event to celebrate Tucson’s long and rich history, focusing on the community’s and region’s food heritage, will be held at the Presidio Museum, on the corner of Church and Washington Streets downtown on Monday, Aug. 21. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m. It is presented by the Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission and the Tucson Presidio Trust for Historic Preservation/Presidio Museum with major sponsorship from Desert Diamond Casinos and Entertainment.

UNESCO Celebrates Tucson's City of Gastronomy Designation at Paris Event

At the invitation of the U.S. Commission to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization), on the eve of the 2017 UNESCO Creative Cities Network annual conference in the Paris, there will be a cooking demonstration to present the distinctive cuisine that helped Tucson earn its designation as the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in the United States. James Beard Award-winning Chef Janos Wilder will prepare a sampling of traditional and modern dishes that showcase the ancient ingredients of our region

City Seeks Applicants for Public Safety Oversight Commission

The City of Tucson is seeking applicants for the 2017 Public Safety Oversight Commission created by the passage of Proposition 101 on May 16. Proposition 101 sets forth a half-cent sales tax increase for the next five years beginning on July 1, 2017. The measure is expected to generate $250 million in additional sales tax revenue to be split with $100 million allocated to improve the condition of city streets and $150 million dedicated for police and fire vehicles, equipment, and facilities.

Memorial Day Holiday Trash & Recycling Collection Service Changes

The Memorial Day holiday will be observed on Monday, May 29, 2017.  Residential and commercial trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday. Civil Service Commission

We are looking for folks to serve on the Civil Service Commission. The commission makes determinations on disputes between city employees and management and meets quarterly with other meetings as needed. If you are a resident and qualified elector of the City of Tucson for at least five years do not hold any other public office, you can serve. SummerGO Youth Pass

This summer kids ages 6 to 18 can get unlimited air conditioned rides on Sun Link, Sun Tran and select Sun Shuttle routes and unlimited access to City of Tucson pools from May 22 through August 5, 2017 for just $45, with the SummerGO Youth Pass.

Tucson Police Department Annual Fallen Officer Memorial

A total of eight officers, who dedicated their lives to serving the City of Tucson, gave the ultimate sacrifice and were killed in the line of duty.  Every year, the Tucson Police Department takes a moment to both remember and honor these heroes for their dedication and service as well as for the price they paid. On the evening of May 10, 2017, the Tucson Police Department will host the 2017 Tucson Police Department Annual Fallen Officer Memorial to honor our fallen officers.  The service will begin at 6:30 p.m.

City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Seeks Public Input to Guide Sentinel Peak Park (“A” Mountain) Improvements

The Tucson Parks and Recreation department will hold a series of community-wide open houses to gather public input on how it can best prioritize master planned improvements to Sentinel Peak Park (“A” Mountain). The department has kicked off a process of information gathering that will result in a list of improvements to the park.
