Ward 3 News and Updates
We at the Ward 3 office wish you a pleasant weekend. This week's newsletter is short because Tuesday we sent out a Veterans Day edition of the Ward 3 newsletter. While our country transitions to a new presidency, do not overlook the fact that the number of COVID infection and hospitalization cases are spiking fast. Please continue to wear a mask in public, limit time indoors with those outside of your household and get tested even if you do not have symptoms. There is free testing tomorrow at Literacy Connects on East Yavapai Road (see announcement below) and you can find regular testing option here. Also, Thanksgiving Day is around the corner. Consider making adjustments to your holiday plans this year. Be well. Stay healthy.
Money for Child Care
The Mayor and Council approved $500,000 to be distributed to families in need of help covering child care expenses during the pandemic, up to $2,275 per child with no limit to the number of children in a family. The child care scholarships will cover expenses for children 12 years and younger. Families must reside in the City of Tucson. Apply here.
Neighborhood Webinar Series Session 3
The Ward 3 office is hosting a series of webinars designed to help neighborhoods and their associations build capacity and functionality in a world where the games have changed due to COVID-19.
We have had a great turnout for our neighborhood series. We hope to have the videos posted soon. Thank you to everyone that have come out and participated. We really enjoyed “seeing” and hearing you.
Session 3 will be Thursday, December 3 at 5:30 pm.  Our third session will feature stories of success from Tucson neighborhoods who have successfully used communication to engage with their neighbors.  You can register for that here. Session 4, on December 10, will provide an overview of how different social media platforms can aid neighborhoods to engage with residents. You can register for Session 4 here.
